Where Women Create – the Magazine

January 13, 2009 4 Comments by Regina

Last February, I picked Where Women Create by Jo Packham as my Book of the Month. Ms. Packham contacted me to thank me and we had a very nice correspondence. She’s very inspiring — she even let me know the plans to turn the book into a magazine.

Recently,I got a nice e-mail from her telling me I was receiving a package in the mail. What was it? The premier issue! She even had each and every artist sign the magazine…I was so touched.

Below are some of the images in the issue. It is so beautiful — it’s made with a nice paper stock and is chock-full of photograps and inspiring stories. In the opening words of artisan Sally Jean, she says “Have you ever had a major wake-up moment that changed your life? Maybe you know when it’s happening, maybe you don’t see it until later, but when you look back you’ve got an “old life” and a “new life” and they don’t look the same at all. Well, that’s what happened to me.” I have to tell you — her words had me at Hello. I went on to read the other profiles and it was great reading about the lives of artists who enjoy their “day” job. Ms. Packham writes in her Editor’s letter that as women explore creative journeys — even ones that start at a kitchen table with just an idea — they meet kindred spirits, discover hidden strengths and find the open doors necessary to fulfill dreams. In fact, she says, the magazine is in itself one of her oldest, most treasured dreams come true. If you can, please take a moment to look over the Where Women Create website, check out the subscription info and look into their beautiful newsletter. Until next time!

what a nice thing! i know so many women pursuing these dreams all of a sudden, now that they have more “time” or had a big change (job loss, baby, divorce) funny how a woman’s personal ambition comes out when there is a life change. it’s encouraging to see what other women do with this energy.
