Wedgwood as Inspiration
Recently, I was watching the Martha Stewart show and she had a segment on Wedgwood, the English china and ceramics company. One of the company directors was on the show and they were discussing not only her new line with them, but also talking about their history and giving a tour of their factory. (I love that kind of thing.) Then, they brought out both new and historic pieces and among those were a few examples of Jasperware — their most popular line which has been in production for over 200 years.
My heart grew still. My eyes grew wide. I paused the TiVo. My husband walked by and I looked at him and said “Do you see what I see?”. I swear he was almost going to say “…You cut your hair? Highlights? Help me out here — new blouse?” but then I excitedly said “Walls! Accent Walls! Beautiful bas-relief work on gorgeous colors! Not just one layer of embossing but using all the stencil overlays for dimension! Modern with a touch of history! I’ve GOT to make a sample…” (I think he was relieved, LOL!)
As I was planning on making the sample (I even found a perfect Royal Design Studio stencil in my studio stock), I spied the following picture. Isn’t it gorgeous? JUST what I envisioned in my head! Although someone beat me to it, I’m glad I’m not going cuckoo with crazy ideas — it really does look pretty.
So — I. want. this. room. badly. The painting, the rug, the simple yet elegant window treatment, everything. I can have my breakfast brought in on a tray. Of course, it doesn’t go with anything I have going on in my home but a girl can dream. I’m still making that sample…I just have to manifest the perfect client wanting this somewhere…

Awesome inspiration and looking forward to seeing what you do with that Royal Design Studio stencil
I think that what makes wedgewood so attractive is not only the graphic quality and the delicate bas relief, but also the beautiful, matte colors on the background.
