Something to Nibble On…

On this glorious Friday, we’re having a Nibbler post.  Nibblers are when I give little snippets of cool info and nice sites.  I hope you enjoy today’s version.  :)

1)  I love Contract magazine (where they are “inspiring commercial design solutions”).  We do a lot of commercial work and it is fun to read about and visually see some of the truly innovative directions that sector of design is heading in.  Check out Contract’s online site — it has a fantastic news section (like the proposed ecopolis of the future, completion date 2100)and a cool blog.  Let me know if you like it.

2)  I love to publicly thank the blogs who profile our company and this installment gives much appreciation to Arkansas-based Renee Holder of Artistry in Faux who maintains the artistryinfaux blog.  Here’s the post she wrote about us.  Renee is also one of the illustrious sisters in Sisters Hands.  Thank you, Renee!  Love how your blog is coming along. :)

3)  As I was organizing my decorative painting books, I came across a few postcards I bought while in Italy.  I was so excited!  Here’s one of the images from our tour of the Palazzo Ducale (Duke’s Palace) in Mantova.  The photograph is attributed to Nicola Romani.   It’s the Sala dei Fiumi (the Room of the Rivers).  Trompe l’oeil, mosaic flooring and painted grottoes covered in shells – isn’t it gorgeous?!?  It brought back memories of walking through the space as well.   Sigh.

4)  A little bit ago, I wrote about the Spring Faux Retreat.  Due to a personal loss in the family, the organizer, Kathy Boyd, has folded the Spring retreat into the Faux retreat and added two additional days to the event.  In other words, for the same amount, you receive two additional days and teachers.  Sounds like an amazing week!

5)  Wanted to let you know to look out for a show coming soon on Bravo called American Artist, produced by Sarah Jessica Parker.  It is touted as the Project Runway of the art world and since it was announced last July, it should be coming around this Fall.  The show’s contestants will be judged on color theory, creativity in different mediums (i.e., painting, sculpture, photography) and overall creative talent.  Got my TiVo keywords ready…

6)  I saw the following message on the Finally Seeing blog on a particularly bad, bad day…and it changed my spirit around completely.  If you need to hear it, I hope it came at just the right time.  Have a wonderful weekend!
