What To Do with Columns?
A lot of people look at a column and just think “marble” — at least, that has been my experience when meeting with most homeowners.? While some homes and ergo, their columns, are clearly begging for the grand faux marbre touch,?most benefit and are better suited to the?the myriad of other finishes that are available for them.? (Wow.? I was thisclose to creating a run-on sentence there.? Close one.)? Anyhoo, we were chatting about columns.? Well, here are a few magazine pics with?a sampling of?various?finishes:
Woodgraining always looks nice…in fact, that whole resort looks nice…
So do multi-color glazes with just a bit of texture…(and I have to say, someone really loves their purple — love it when someone embraces a color they enjoy…)
…or even a bit more?texture than that…
Or, a bit of fun, too!? I like this idea a lot — imagine how great different Modello designs or blik graphics would look.
There’s also Concrete to consider, Crackle and even Venetian Plaster to name a few more.? Even just a beautiful base color or aged metallic will work wonders.??Do you have any more suggestions or?pictures of columns you’ve done?? Please feel free to leave a comment or a link to a pic on your site…would love to see more!

Great post, Jen — and your pics show a super nice variation. I forgot that we can add tissue paper to the list of column finishes!

I love your selections and suggestions.
These aren’t columns, but concrete pilasters (and a wall) that I did last week in a loft
