My Friend and Artisan, Jeff Huckaby

July 6, 2009 3 Comments by Regina

Most artisans, wherever they are in the country, have one or two local artists who — though technically competition — are true friends. (There are some frenemies, too, but we won’t get into that, LOL!)? Jeff Huckaby is one of my best friends and I adore him. We met by kismet back in 2000 and have enjoyed being a tremendous support system for one another.? (…and writing e-mails with titles such as “‘Sup, yo?”) In fact, he is going to be a guest in an upcoming Sibling Artistry podcast.

He was recently profiled by CNN’s Stephanie Elam for their Small Business Success series. He’s very humble about his work, but I feel he is so good that he deserves his own book — I’m constantly thinking of that for him.? I thought I’d show you more of the pics from the CNN profile.? In it, he takes what is an otherwise bland white pantry door and transforms it into a beautiful focal point in the room.? We’re starting with the sketch…I hope you enjoy the process.

If you have a moment, take a look at his newly updated website, Jeff Huckaby Painting.? Sigh – I just love strolling through there and using those images to inspire my own clients to bring him in and make their home that much better.? Here he is, with another set of doors.? I’ve included his sketch for that one as well.? Enjoy your day!

I just love, love, love Jeff’s work. He’s amazing and definitely has mastered a realm of faux that is hard to tap into. Great work Jeff. :)

Regina… thanks for highlighting Jeff’s work. I’ve been a lurker on his site for a long time. Perhaps one day I’ll get to meet him in person.

FYI… on my monitor the comment Name & Mail box is a yellow and the text is white… it’s really hard to read the white text I wasn’t sure it was working. Perhaps a little tweaking on the font color. :) Missing you… sorry I’ve gone underground.

Great work as always! He’s the only artist I know who paints in a fancy long sleeve button shirt. haha
