Adobe Photoshop Basics

August 12, 2010 6 Comments by Regina

Today we’re going to take the visuals down to a simmer and hit, yes, the dreaded business posts. Judging by the traffic and lack of comments, the business posts don’t get a lot of love — but since I run a creative business and most of my dear Readers are professional creatives, I think it’s important to mix up the both. A bitter pill, I know. :)

As you may know, I love About.com — the Blogging area alone is worth its weight in gold. But, if you ever wanted to spruce up photographs of your work for your portfolio or create better pictures (with cool effects) for your own blog, we would need to head to the Graphics Software area. Here, the area guide, Sue Chastain, offers a complimentary Adobe Photoshop Basics Online Course. There are self-paced lessons that will get you going on the basics of Photoshop. Once you sign up, you will receive one e-mail a week for ten weeks. (Here’s the course outline – scroll to the bottom.) I just signed up so, hopefully, Fauxology’s visuals (as well as Garay Artisans) will get that much better. Have a wonderful day!

Regina, I love your business posts. Keep them coming. I’m going to take the course with you. Our pictures are the pitts. Thanks for the kick in the butt. I’ve been meaning to do this for a while. :)

Both of you made my day! I have been keeping business posts down to a minimum even though there is such great info and help out there. I received my first e-mail from the course — I’m excited to see what I can learn! Glad you’re both along for the ride! :)

OMG Regina! Yipee! I for one LOVE your business posts. Have taken several Photoshop courses and this one looks like another that will just help ‘cement’ those skills into this scattered brain of mine. My daughter was looking into tying to take a class at our college here – but their class and her work schedule didn’t mesh. NOW she can do this instead at least. Thank you! and keep ‘em coming!

[...] Business advice specific to our industry was sprinkled in amidst the design posts.? I once noted once that these posts did not receive the comment love the “pretty” ones did — and several of you wrote in to say something akin to “No, we love them — keep ‘em coming!” and I do aim to please!?? The most popular this year were 1) Using Facebook for your Business; 2) WordPress: A Fantastic Online Software for Your Business; and tied for 3) Press Releases and Adobe Photoshop Basics. [...]

[...] I’ve worked with PhotoShop. I was better at it after I took the tutorial I shared with you a while back.  It’s been good to me, it has.  But…my unhappiness at certain aspects [...]
