Red Hot
I’m sitting in a hotel room out of town and ready to tackle more blogging. We’re working on a cool project — actually, we’ve been working on a few and should be finishing up within a few weeks. I’ll be sharing pics soon — every now and then I do have to show that I do this for a living, you know?
For now, though, we’ll focus on the color of the month: Red. Being the color of blood and fire, Red is associated with energy, passion and love. In Interior Design, Red is the hottest of the warm hues. Shall we move on to the lovely pics? Yes, let’s.
Lobby at the Greenbrier Hotel as designed by Dorothy Draper. Absolutely love when you can see the next room’s color — especially next to its complement.
Two gorgeous spaces found in Kelly Wearstler’s Hue
The wallcovering at Amsterdam’s PostPanic Production Studios is adapted from an antique Persian rug pattern. Love how something so classic is so striking against such a modern space. Interiors by Maurice Mentjens Design.
Fabrics can also inspire decorative painting ideas as well as great color combinations. Left, Hable Construction and Right, Jean Lurcat (hanging textile) and Fortuny (chair fabric)
(above two pics) Adobe walls as featured in Phoenix Home & Garden
Are we feeling Red Hot for the Holidays yet? I hope so! By the way, if you’d like to learn more about Red or any other color, Pantone has a book on the messages and meanings of color. And if you really like the color Red? Well, check out the POP of Red blog, of course. Have a wonderful day!

Hard to beat an opening with Dorothy Draper! I have that photo in my files as well. This is a very strong post…you are all over the map with ways to interpret red! I love the Phoenix Home & Garden shots.

Hmmmm. Having a hot flash. Could be hormones or it COULD be the fire in that red adobe fireplace….or the persian rug-inspired wall covering. Fan please!

I just spent 4 days at The Greenbrier and when I saw the opening picture I was like “I know that place”. I love color and pattern but Dorothy Draper’s design had me looking for calmer places to rest my eyes. After 4 days I felt a bit on edge.

Great post, Regina!
I love red, but in a limited quantity! I could definitely live with the Dutch studio’s Persian rug inspired wall.
